Local Winemakers Pour Their Wines The First Friday of Each Month
The Blue Wing Saloon and Café is proud to host a series of monthly “Meet the Winemaker” evenings. These events extend the Blue Wing’s focus on offering its patrons the best wines produced in The Winemaker Evenings are held on the first Friday of each month from 5:30-8:30 pm. The events allow restaurant patrons to taste a wide variety of local wines and to meet some of the most notable winemakers in the area. In addition to our regular menu, chef Mark Linback works closely with the winemakers at each event to produce special dishes that properly compliment the wines being featured. Reservations suggested Here is the schedule through from May to December 2009: Friday, May 8 - Obsidian Ridge Vineyards: In January, the 2006 Obsidian Ridge Vineyards Cabernet was the only Lake County vintage to be named by the S. F. Chronicle as one of the 100 best wines of California. Our Blue Wing Syrah is made from grapes grown in this high elevation vineyard. Enjoy these wines and meet owner Peter Molnar. Check www.tricyclewineco.com. Friday June 5 - Sol Rouge: Winemaker Bryan Kane and wife Jill produce small quantities of truly exceptional Rhone and Bordeaux varietal wines at affordable prices. Taste their Viognier, Rose, Grenache and "Gypsy" blend. Check www.solrouge.com. Friday July 3 - Langtry Estate & Vineyards: Based at the historic estate actress Lillie Langtry south of Middletown, this is Lake County's largest producer and recognized as one of it's best. Taste their Langtry and Guenoc lines and meet winemaker Maria Navarro. Check www.langtryestate.com. August: No event planned for August due to the Blue Wing Blues Festival. Friday, Sept. 4 - High Valley Wines: Meet owners and winemakers Dustin and Bobbie Brassfield and taste the fine wines they're producing from grapes grown in High Valley (at high elevation) outside of Clearlake Oaks. Check www.highvalleywine.com. Complimenting the High Valley wines will be a special Merlot from Phil and Julia Maxwell of Kelseyville's Bell Hill Vineyards. Check www.bellhillvineyards.com. Friday, Oct. 2 -- Cleavage Creek Wines: Join us for a special evening in recognition of BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH. Cleavage Creek owner Budge Brown donates 10% of the gross proceeds of wine sales to fight breast cancer and the labels of his wine all feature breast cancer survivors. See www.CleavageCreek.com. Friday, Nov. 6 - Rosa d'Oro Wines: Meet owner/winemaker Nick Buttitta of this fine family winery producing European style wines in Kelseyville. Check www.rosadorowine.com. Friday, Dec. 4 - Dusinberre Wines: Meet owner/winemaker Jeff Smith, famous for his sparkling wines but now producing a full range of fine Lake County wines from his new facility in Kelseyville.
